PG Diploma in Data Science for Logistics
Over View: Delivered by SCM Hub Business School in collaboration with the Logistics Skill Council (LSC). The objective of the program is to create skilled technical resources for optimization of logistics processes. The program encourages students to solve logistics issues in active consultations with their faculty members and company executives.
Logistics Sector Skill Council, (LSSC) a society registered under the Societies Registration act, 1860 is a not for profit organization set up by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) through National Skill Development Corporation of India (NSDC) and promoted by Confederation of Indian Industries Institute of Logistics (CII-IL) a Centre of Excellence in Logistics with the aim to develop skill training and up-skilling the workforce in India.
Digitization of operations and demand driven logistics are pushing supply chains closer to demand. Data science helps companies to improve efficiency of their operations, reduce risk, optimize their networks and improve decision making with data driven evidence. Logistics sector is adopting technology at a rapid pace and is expected to grow at a rate of 10.7 percent for the next 5 years.
The curriculum has been specifically designed in, as reported by unison with LSC for developing industry oriented skills for enhancing employability. The program is of 18 months duration with two teaching semesters and one Apprenticeship Semester. Students of this program are given a fair immersion in logistics concepts for two semesters.
An industry project is given to them for 15 days in between Semesters I and II, to identify potentials for improving logistics processes. An Apprenticeship for a duration of six months is assigned to students in the same company where they did their industry projects. Guest lectures are arranged by industry experts and lectures will be delivered by subject matter experts from SCM Hub. All student-apprentice will get monthly stipend during the apprenticeship period as per the provisions of Apprentices Act, 1961. Subject to performance of students in Apprenticeship, certificates are awarded to students who successfully complete the Apprenticeship.
